MEET THE FAMILY | René van der Laan
Who is René?
36 years old, born and raised in beautiful Roosendaal. Father of Cody, almost 1 year old and happily living together with my girlfriend Rachel. We love to travel, together we have seen all of Asia! If we can, we go on vacation together as often as possible!
In my spare time I like to play games, squash or golf with my friends... Preferably with a beer afterwards! We also often go to Breda for a bite and a drink.
How did you end up at HANKO?
I am a good friend of Hans van Gastel's son. He pointed out to me that they were still looking for someone as a team leader in the HANKO warehouse in Breda. So I went for an interview and it actually clicked right away. I felt at home straight away and from the start I knew it was right. I have now been working for almost 18 years and for the first time I have the feeling that I am really at home!
What is your job at HANKO?
I am a warehouse team leader at HANKO in Breda. It is my job to give guidance to the men in the warehouse and to ensure that everything runs smoothly. I like to take a fresh look at possible improvements, now and in the future, and of course I make sure that the warehouse always looks spick and span!
What makes the job so enjoyable for you?
It is quite a diverse job; I work both as a warehouse employee and as a 'leader'. What makes the work so enjoyable is the colleagues I have around me every day. I notice that at HANKO there is no division between the office and the warehouse, everyone is there for each other and helps where necessary.
Where does your strength lie?
I am a real team player, stress resistant and a hard worker. I am always there for my colleagues, stay positive and like to think in terms of solutions instead of problems. I am spontaneous and, in addition to hard work, I am always in for a joke.
What does the HANKO-FAMILY mean to you?
The family feeling that prevails here; you just notice that everyone is working in the same direction and that is super cool. The door is always open to everyone and you can ask anyone anything. I am definitely planning to stay here for a long time!
What does Dedication for Insulation mean to you?
Working together towards a fantastic result, it really is one team, one task. The whole HANKO-FAMILY is there for each other and for all its customers. That is just super cool to see!
