Who is Dick?

Born 48 years ago in Streefkerk. I once ended up in Drunen for love and have enthusiastically embraced Brabant life. Even though I am an imported Brabander, I love Carnival.

I played football for 30 years, sniffed a little at professional football in Dordrecht but not good enough for the big time. The passion for football remained, but no longer active. I now have that love for mountain biking and cycling. I also regularly commute from Drunen to Breda by bike. But my biggest hobby is of course doing fun things with my 10-year-old son.

How did you end up at Hanko?

After MEAO I started working in sales at a meat processing company. Here I sold beef fins and meatballs for 15 years. The contact with customers and the lively process from quotation to delivery really appealed to me.

Then I spent 5 years selling cheese soufflés. Then I ended up in the insulation business. After two years, my job there was abolished and I came into contact with Hans van Gastel eight years ago via a former colleague. After some good talks with Hans and Marijn, I enthusiastically started working in the sales department.

What is your position at Hanko?

Sales, specialising in sheet metal, fasteners and accessories. I also do the purchasing for the latter two.

What makes the work so fun for you?

The variety is great fun, one minute you're a salesman and an hour later you're wearing the buyer's hat. The hectic pace; with 1 phone call, everything can be turned upside down.

In the break (if I win) I can enjoy a fanatical game of darts with some colleagues in the warehouse.

Where does your strength lie?

Switching quickly, an eye for detail, actively thinking along with the customer and no is no answer. If it can't go left, we go right.

What does the Hanko Family mean to you?

Short lines, easy cooperation and no bureaucratic hassle. The door is always open and everyone is there for each other. Great colleagues; we have each other's backs, if someone oversteps someone else jumps in. And, of course, there is always time for a bit of fun.

What does Dedication for Insulation mean to you?

Working hard and taking good care of your customers! Always having a solution ready so that the customer hangs up satisfied. We have everything for the sheet metal worker.

Besides, I see closures everywhere, even on the boat on the way to Texel I saw them and took a quick picture of them.
